Castlem: Chapter 10

Chapter 10
About an hour later, the Serpens-dragonis returned.
"My massster wishesss to sssee you," Seymour said to Victoria. "You and your companion are to follow me. And pleassse keep up." Still riding Johnathon, Victoria and Charlotte followed their new guide.
As they followed Seymour, Charlotte whispered to Victoria, "How do we know he can be trusted?"
"We don't," replied Victoria. "But I would rather not die before reaching our destination."
"Well, I just hope we get there soon."
"So do I. Our hosts will be worried if we do not reach their new abode by tomorrow."
Soon enough, they saw a house-like shape a little far off. As they approached it, they realized it was a house fit for a giant. The only signs of life were wispy columns of smoke floating out of the house's many chimneys.
Seymour stopped in front of the house, and rang the doorbell with his head. The door opened, and Charlotte heard footsteps, but she saw nobody. She wondered if the master was an invisible being.
"Where is this 'master'?" Charlotte whispered to Victoria.
"Look down," was Victoria's only answer. She herself was staring at something far below them.
Charlotte did as commanded, and she let out a gasp of astonishment. Her mouth opened and she covered it with her hand. Standing a few paces away from Johnathon was a man about a foot tall.
"Wh-who are you?" she stuttered.
"I am Ebssa, the master of the city Gade," the tiny man squeaked.
"What do you want with us?" Victoria demanded.
"Do not ssspeak that way to the massster of Gade," Seymour hissed harshly.
"They mean no offense, Seymour. They are newcomers, after all. Now, to answer your question, I merely mean to welcome you to my magnificent city, and offer you a place to sleep for the night. I sense a storm coming, and there is no other shelter for miles."
"Thank you, but we had better be going. You see, we have a very important appointment we must keep. Maybe some other time," Victoria explained.
"Yes, but it was very nice to meet you, Ebssa," Charlotte added.
"You too," Ebssa replied. "I assume you are Charlotte."
"Why yes, I am."
"Well, Charlotte, I wish you luck in all your endeavors."
"Thank you, sir."
"Well, I believe we have trespassed here long enough. We really must be going." with that, Victoria pinched Johnathon, and he was off, carrying Charlotte and Victoria.
